NBA free agent Marcus Morris Sr. was arrested on Sunday in Broward County, Florida, and is currently facing felony fraud charges. According to early reports, Morris is being held without bond due to an out-of-state warrant related to an alleged incident involving a bad check. The initial news was reported by TMZ, though specific details about the warrant or case have yet to be officially confirmed by law enforcement.

Marcus Morris Sr., a 13-year NBA veteran, is widely known as one-half of the Morris twins alongside his brother Markieff Morris, who most recently played for the Dallas Mavericks during the 2023–24 season. Both brothers are currently NBA free agents.

This recent arrest adds to a history of legal issues involving the Morris brothers. In 2011, Marcus received a misdemeanor battery citation related to a nightclub incident during his college years at the University of Kansas. Later, in 2015, both Marcus and Markieff Morris were charged with felony aggravated assault in Phoenix, stemming from an alleged attack on acquaintance Erik Hood.

On the court, Marcus Morris Sr. built a reputation for his physical, enforcer-style play and had stints with several NBA teams, including the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Philadelphia 76ers. Over his career, he has appeared in 832 games. Off the court, he has recently made appearances as a guest analyst on ESPN shows like Get Up and First Take, suggesting a potential transition into sports media.

The Morris twins were also in the spotlight not long ago after publicly challenging Nikola Jokić’s brothers to a boxing match, rekindling tensions from a prior on-court altercation involving the Denver Nuggets star.

As of now, no further official statements have been made regarding Morris’ arrest or possible legal proceedings.
